coolant fans and thermo gauge

ok i decided to see if my fans turn on like it sasys in teh manual to a LOW settign at 221 degrees F. so i start my car and let it idle untill it warms up. the gauge starts rising while i sit and patiently wait forteh fans to kick in. so its 220 now on my autometer gauge and no fans are turning on , i go to look under the hood, still nothing, its 230 on the gauge still nothing, then they finally come on at 240 according to my gauge. now that is 20 degrees diffrence from the manual. i am stomped i usually drove teh car around and the gauge would show 190-210. when it started to go to 210 or so i woudl usually turn my ac on to kick in the fans to cool it down a bit. now knowign that 210 is actaully 190 according to the cars temp sensor, woudlnt it be runing too cold at when its 190 i need some help i have no idea what is goign on. is my gauge that far off which i seriously doubt or is my cars temp sensor messed up? also recently i installed a uesd m2 ecu i am not sure which model year that came from, my car is a 94 TE, and i didnt notice any temps diffrences from my original ecu.

Mine does roughly the same thing mine goes up to about 235. I was thinking of replacing the thermostat but im just gonna wait till my PFC comes in and set the fan temp to like 200 or 210.

could it be because the stock and the autometer temp sensors are in different places? plus the low accuracies of the both...

just checked the manual and it says that the coolant temp sensor should read 2.2-2.7kOhms at 68F and at 176 it should be ,29-.35kOhms. i checked my sensor and while the coolant temp was about 98F that i checked with my multimeters temp gauge by the way my autometer gauge said 100F as well, it read 2.9-2.9kOhms. the number i got is not even within the 2 ranges that they give meaning the temp woudl be under 68F while th temp really was at about 95-100F. this woudl explain my fans kicking in at 240F instead of 221F. though i did not check the other side ofthe temp sensor at the high temp this is enouf to prove this sensor does not work. i wonder how many of these sensors go bad. good thing i never let the temps get over 210 deg while i drove aroudn by turning my AC on. i suggest u guys check your temp sensors especially if you do not ahve an aftermarket gauge!
