I do not think you need to have a new wiring harness or the jspec harness to make the engine work.

I do believe you can use the american harness and ECU just fine. Any ways why would you want to use the Jspec ecu that detuns the engine to 280hp and no more.......

The usa and j-spec engines are pretty much identical with the exception of some smog stuff, It should bolt right in using all the existing wiring and computer and accesory's....

the only differences in the jspec and american FD are the emission controls. American cars have EGR... everything else is the same. With the jspec ecu, you will just have to cut or pull the EGR wires from the wiring harness and you're good to go!

I think hes talking about the newer model jspec models like the 99 model

I know that the american version is 255hp and the jspec is 280 maybe it is just the emissions or something. But there is a 25+ hp diffrence. Now is it at 280 cause its limited by the japanese car company's agreement not to make a car over 280hp? I think the engine probably makes 300hp in real life. not sure though.

I'm pretty sure the new J-spec engine makes quite a bit more than 280 HP, but because of the gentlemen's law in Japan, Matsuda can only advertise it as 280 HP.

No point in getting a J-Spec motor...

Just get a re-man from Mazda...

I can't see justifying the cost at all...you can get a re-man for less than $2k..

What makes the +25 more HP in the newer J-Spec RX-7's are

Better Turbos
More efficient Y-Pipe
No pre-cat
Better computer
Better intake/intercooler duct design

And the faster 0-60 & 1/4 mile times are mostly a result of putting wider/stickier rubber in the rear....

The "motor" has very very very little to do with it...
