Considering getting back into an RX-7 with an FD

So I'm not completely new to them, in May of 2007 I got a 1990 FC and did a turbo swap on it. I sold it by July of 2008 though, I had so many great offers on it I couldn't say no... $5900 for a turbo swapped 1990 just seemed like a great deal for me since I paid $600 for the rolling chassis. At my work we also had a 2005 RX-8 for about a year that I drove quite frequently.

I've always wanted an FD but it never seemed like a viable option till now. I've got a stable job, a nice place to live, 2 alternative modes of transportation that are very reliable (2011 CBR and 1994 Jeep), and a little bit of a disposable income and I'd like a toy haha.

I am looking at a 1994 FD I found in Indianapolis, the owner is asking $8500 but it doesn't run. He states this:

"I have for sale a 1994 rx7 twin turbo montego blue 140,000 miles, clear title. The good: power fc, tein suspension, 3 inch downpipe, 17 mesh wheels, black leather interior. the bad: car is not running, engine is fine it just needs the vacuum and wiring to be finished. but isn't far from being fixed I honestly just don't have the time to finish it and i need the money"

I've found a few other options as well and some of them run but this one could be a good deal. I have asked him for compression numbers and more pictures, including engine bay to see if I can get an idea of what I'm getting into.

Is there anything else I should look into? Skip on this one?

Seems like an engine wiring harness is ~$500. At 140,000, probably needs 3k worth of engine parts to be good as new, but can be upwards of 5k. Transmission might need to be rebuilt if any syncros are out. I would offer 6K for the car if I was you. This car is too risky to take the owners word for it; assume the worst.

if the car is not moving, you really can't tell what else might needs work on. Like suspension bushings, vibrations at higher speeds, and so on.

I'm gonna have to agree with everyone else. Unless you can some how perform a good diagnosis of the car's overall health I wouldn't buy it. (unless you can talk him down) Parts are expensive, motor builds are even more expensive.
