Connector part # ? /wire repair

Hey everyone,
I have picked up an 94 FD (63k on the odo.) which is quite a project but it will be perfect in the end. I will bring it back from the dead, with the rebuilt motor and some paint I should be good to go. The motor is being rebuilt at the moment and while its out im going through the entire engine harness replacing any bad wires. I have been soldering new pieces in trying best to keep the colors.
I have one connector ive been poking at a bit, pretty much down to this as the last wiring fix in the engine bay. I have tried pushing it through to release it ... and pulling it. I can't see any clips holding it in the plastic connector. I want to remove the wire at the tip so i can get a fresh connection.
I think im just missing something small, either I need to get it out somehow to replace the wire, or a new connector. However knowing Mazda my guess I would have to buy a new harness. Thats not something I am going to do. I have no problems soldering to the metal directly if I could get it out of the connector. I was going to try and heat it up a little bit and see if its just stuck from age... but I figured I would ask before I try that... I have done it in the past with good results...
So im sure someone will call me an idiot and tell me what im missing haha, at least I hope so.

Just for the record, I have a 88 Turbo II that ive brought back from the grave as well.. Since that one is running so well I decided to find another broken one to help out.

Thanks for the help,
-Brian

That's your air pump connector. It's part of the engine wiring harness, which is salty to replace ($750) although not a bad thing to do. The other connectors and wires on that harness that hide around the solenoids and fuel rail are probably in pretty bad shape. Doing it during a rebuild is a perfect time (although there is nothing wrong with repairing the existing one).

That orange plastic plate on the connector side should be removable - I think there is a raised piece in the center of it that you can straight yank out of the connector housing. That should expose the locking tabs of the connector terminals, or at least the little holes which give access to the tabs.

Personally, unless that bare wiring is down to a couple strands, I'd simply tape the thing between the wires and around the outside. Pics ar ea little fuzzy, but they don't look that bad.

Ahh thanks, I got it out and repaired it this morning.. I didn't want to pull on brittle plastic without knowing how it 'should' come out.

The rest of the harness is not too bad actually. I had to repair the thermosensor connector as well.. but all emissions/most stuff which normally is toast was still fairly flexable. I think the rest of the harness is still good enough to go with...

Thanks for the help.
