Connector that causes lumpy idle?

Hello,
If one of the connectors, i think there is a total of 4, going to the Upper Intake Manifold is left unplugged would that cause a lumpy idle? Reason i ask is because im trying to diagnose a problem for a friend. He experience a lumpy idle after doing a silicon hose job, and thinks its because one of the connectors that he broke is causing this. Your expertise would be greatly appreciated.

Nathan

weird. I found that after I got my car back from my tech, one of the connectors was left off. The idle was fine. After I hooked it back up, the idle went lumpy. This might be due to the fact that I noticed it when I was having cooling probs., and still am having cooling probs, but interesting nonetheless. I wonder why it would do that.

"Bump" means bump it to the top. Also, if you see, "TTT" that means "To The Top" like...to the top of the page.

Lumpy idle can be caused by the idle control valve searching for idle...that up and down revving. Turn the car on. Let it sit at idle until the idle smooths out. Then turn on your defroster. That should cause it to idle lumpy again...up an down revving. Let it sit until it can find the idle with an electrical load. Once it idles smooth, then turn on the A/C. and let it idle until it becomes smooth.
