No skillz...

FD can be driven in snow. Sure, you cant boost around in it, and you need to know what opposite lock is, but other then that its just fine, like any other rwd car (I said no boooooost )

no way, the FD is not good in snow, i would have never thought a RWD TT car would have this problem. I am dumbfounded.

Thank you fdslave g,
God damn rx7raca, that's a nice avatar you got there, and the sig to.

I been driving my FD for almoast 9 years and never had problem in snow as long as you got good tires, last year I changed to yoko. avs es 100 they realy suck in snow.
Not sayng the FD is the best car in snow but is not that bad at all, keep in mind that high perf. tires are not good for all year round.

I've never even seen snow that sticks to the roads. The snow around here barely sticks to the grass half the time.

I actually saw one of those TransAm support races with Corvettes and Porshes in the field. The RX-7 was actually making good progress up through the field during a heavy rain. The driver ended up in the tire barrier (as had a dozen Vettes and Porsches by then) but that looked more like driver error than a grip problem.

I guess there must be some difference between US FDs and those in the rest of the world. I wouldn't claim it was great in the snow, but it certainly isn't that bad.

Im starting to go crazy waiting for winter to be over too, But I would never pull my car out in the snow, I always thought FD's would melt if introduced to snow or rain...

course when I was trying to plow fresh tracks with mine(lowered at least an inch) through 5-6 inches of fresh snow...the snow plow was going to slow...it did get a bit sketchy.

granted I had real snow tires on the car.

I would say it is. I've driven plenty of Volvo's in the winter without trouble, but the problem is that 7's are just too light. If I was driving my FC in the winter, I'd end up putting a lot of winter weight in it.

I don't drive my RX in the snow if I can help it. I had to do it twice... once, I was picking my car up from the shop, driving about 350 miles from Rochester, NY to NJ, going through lake effect snow (those that are from that area know what I'm talking about)... never did slide, but it didn't feel all that stable...

the other time was going home from work... it was nice in the morning, but snowed during the day and was still snowing when I left work... a person was going about 25 in a 40mph zone, I went to over take... as I crossed over a bridge to over take, I must have hit an ice patch because the rear end wagged like crazy! I was glad to actually keep the car in the lane and get the control back...

normally, winter is time for the RX to hibernate...

alot of ppl baby a FD more than a child or wife. Sometimes it makes me sick.

it's a car. Drive it when you want to drive it. Driving it in the winter isn't impossible. I respect the car but not more than a human.

the original poster only said it was worse than he expectied. Not that it would be a snow tank.

just like on a track the driver makes a huge part in the equation when snow is added.

I'm guessing they don't use salt on the roads where you live. Around here, if you want to keep a car in decent shape, you don't drive it during the winter. Personally, I want my FC to survive to be an antique. I imagine a fair share of FD owners feel the same way.

yeah they do

but like i said it's a car

one day driving in snow behind a plow my red car was mostly white. Not sure what it was but i think they started using brime maybe it was salt.

That's a bit short sighted, don't you think? Just because YOU can handle a car, doesn't mean the people around you can... during the winter, I'm SURE the accident rates go WAY up....

I personally don't drive in winter for a few reasons:
1. all the salt (the trip from NY to NJ turned my BB '94 to a whitish grey '94);

2. I have 2 other cars I can use in the winter -- a 4x4 SUV and a FWD car with snow tires on, so why waste miles on the RX when you can't enjoy it;

3. Too many drivers on the road that are bad drivers in the snow that could hit ME, regardless of what I'm doing. (In NJ, at least, when it starts snowing, a lot of drivers seem to forget HOW to drive... this even happens during hard rains!)

btw: I also don't agree with "alot of ppl baby a FD more than a child or wife." I drive with my child and wife in the cars that are safer/more stable in snow AND I drive SAFELY, not like some people that don't change their driving styles when in bad weather.

Now, I don't agree because that's a pretty big blanket statement, not because it isn't true for some people....

anyone can slide into you while driveing in the snow. I happens all the time. And if you were driving your fd in the snow and some SUV were to loose control and run into you, your fd would probably be totaled.
