confirmed: RX7=worst car ever.....

i have confirmed today what others have already said. the RX7 TT is absolutely the worst car i have ever driven in the snow. shit, it wouldnt even make it out of my driveway. tires are almost brand new and just spun. i had to break out the explorer and grab my tow rope to pull her out. just thought id share.

Snow + FD = Not a good idea

evot23 01-19-04 08:00 PM

sports cars don't like snow

maxcooper 01-19-04 08:05 PM

It probably depends a lot on what tires you have, but generally, I think the FD is not that bad in the snow. I drove an 88T2 in the snow for several years in college, and drove my FD in the snow for one winter before I moved to a warmer climate.

3 people seem to total their FDs on here everytime it rains, however. :(

" okay class, let's go over this again, for those that were late; inclement weather + HP + RWD = Oh shit!"

rx7raca 01-19-04 08:11 PM

they are not supras that are boats and just stink to the ground and are able to grab the ground. like maxcopper said fds arent even good in the rain, i have to agree with this, i drove mine couple times in the rain and did ok but still slid around a bit. i wouldnt even consider driving it in the snow.

zkeller 01-19-04 08:19 PM

The owner's manual states " Do not drive in ice and snow". Seriously, it's in there.

I hope you meant Altima, b/c if you have an Ultima GTR and didn' t post pic's we'd be upset for sure! If you meant you have an Ultima, why the hell would you drive it in the snow?

if you've never seen an Ultima, go to their site and "BEHOLD" at Ultimagtr.com

I drove mine all last winter in the snow in Mass (we got 112 inches of the fluffy stuff last year!). It can be done, but I never want to do it again.

One ride in particular was a lot of fun. It was a 7 hour drive from Ithaca NY to Worcester MA in 8" of snow. That was the most horrifying experience of my life...

user 9348703 01-19-04 09:25 PM

Yeah put some snow tires on or just some donuts (No problem) haha

karken29 01-19-04 10:38 PM

Is this like the site for Stoopid Human Tricks??

teeter 01-19-04 10:54 PM

bah...

as long as you have good snow tires....and the snow isn't too deep...it isn't much worse than any other rwd car. Just drive within your limits.

course when I was trying to plow fresh tracks with mine(lowered at least an inch) through 5-6 inches of fresh snow...the snow plow was going to slow...it did get a bit sketchy.

granted I had real snow tires on the car.

haha no doubt man. I love florida.

1 2 NV 01-19-04 11:19 PM

well its the first time ive got to take it out since i started the simplification. the snow is melting so its more like small sand sized pieces of ice. not good for driving. i dont mind the snow, in fact i love it. but with the 18s on the car it goes no where. i was just surprised it did so horrible. i mean i expected to get up my 1% grade at least. out of my driveway into the next street is only 20' away.

Sesshoumaru 01-19-04 11:45 PM

i drive my FC in the winter and doing so now.

def some shit u need to know or learn about it though

only found it's way in to the ditch once this year b/c I was close to home and I bit off a bit more than i could chew (and knew my dad would get the tractor if i went farming :)). Didnt' know the road was ice. It can be done.

last year at the same time i would say they are death machines. Before new springs/bushings i was driving 55mph and hit a bump in the road and i went side ways into on coming traffic for no reason that i could tell. After about 100ft and a long slide i stopped in a drive way.

After 30sec to gain my composure i then drove off..........contemplating my existance.

get the correct setup if u plan on driving it in winter. There is a world of difference

fd3s_rx7 01-20-04 01:06 AM

well if it spins out too much, just toll her to a wide parking lot and start bursting some sideways and learn how to do a 360?

Snow=Great way of learning how to Drift..

ReDLiNe@t9 01-20-04 01:10 AM

I WOULDNT TAKE MINE OUT IN THE RAIN LET ALONE SNOW.......ITS A SPORTS CAR......FOR DRY GROUND.....IM DUMBER FOR HEARING SOMEBODY ACTUALLY TRIED DRIVING ONE IN THOSE CONDITIONS

Sponge Bob Square Pants 01-20-04 02:27 AM

It's not very suprising it's bad in snow, that's like saying "a dumptruck is the worst autocross vehicle" well of course!

jeff48 01-20-04 05:41 AM

If you have problems driving and FD in the rain-----
GET NEW TIRES!!!!

dubulup 01-20-04 06:48 AM

why were you pulling the FD out of the driveway if there was snow on the ground?
