condensation / liquid on filler neck

I'm getting a liquid condensing on my oil filler cap. Here's a pic

Smells like gas or used oil maybe...and I do have put just a small amount of coolent in it , but that might be a small leak in the cooling system that does not show it's self till high RPM's

Thanks for looking

Yep, normal. It'll really freak you out when it gets all white/greenish and foamy. But yep, it's all normal.

Take a long run to fully warm up the engine and the moisture will "boil" off. It is mostly caused by short trips that do not allow the engine to fully warm up before shutting down.

I remember reading that you can alleviate this condensation by drilling a very small hole in your oil cap, allowing the moisture to evaporate/vent out. I'm a little hesitant to do that myself though, any thoughts??

As I said in a previous similar thread, I would be very reluctant to drill a hole in the oil cap, because it COULD allow dirt or water into the engine under certain conditions, and the constant flow of crankcase vapors (containing oil and water) would foul the surrounding areas in the engine compartment. IMO, a much better solution (if the condensation is that offensive to you) would be to put the PCV or catch-tank vent closer to the cap.
