You can ship one of your testers down to me and I will do side-by-side testing, compare cranking speed and compression accuracy. I will share the info in this thread and you can use the data to further market your product. I will ship it back to you of course.

I am just sick of seeing garbage like this posted, test done by a so-called rotary shop:

not too uncommon, i notice that the mazda tester seems to read slightly high compared to my calibrated unit and in some cases the engines don't have trouble starting until they are into the low 60's. in that reasoning i give the engines a little more room before condemning them, though 70ish psi is about to leave you stranded in short order.

my exes engine that failed the test with 1 rotor at 65 2k miles ago is now exhibiting hot start issues, though it never had any starting issues at the compression level. haven't retested it since there is no need to.

I wasn't trying to jack your thread.
I did a test for a local dealer today that had no clue, trying to do what you show above almost comical.

I have another batch of testers coming off Excels automated line on the 27th.
Sometime after the 1st, I will get one built and just bring it down when you have a free minute and leave it.

Need a couple things on my 8 looked at, and so I can make an appointment.

If it wasn't for your shop, I wouldn't own this company today.

This is for potential buyers of a RX8 get a compression test first don't wish you had!

I didn't, the reason is in 2014 I took my 90' vert to Chris for a rebuild.
The 2004 Rx8 I own now was on his rack having a rebuild done by someone else.


I found it for sale @ 3 miles from my house, with 3k on rebuild and ink not even dry on the Banzai Racing receipt.
I knew it was going to be mine it and my vert were resurrected together in his shop before ever calling the same driveway home.
Needless to say I knew it had good compression.
I contacted Mazda.N.A after buying it. Chris probably doesn't even know, the rebuild he did at 58k was the fourth engine.
This bastard child 4 port is why I wanted my own compression tester in the first place.
The previous owner wanted to move on to something else and wasn't going to produce anymore.
I couldn't let it die and go to waste.

I bought this company so people have the tools and knowledge to avoid the rebuild I had with NO reusable parts.

I also have one going to Rotors Inc magazine, Matt is going to do a article on it.
Then we are going to have a giveaway for it.

When you build rotary motors for 20 plus years, you already know when a car pulls up to the shop it's 99% blown just by that sound. But always verify with compression tester.

Just telling someone their engine is blown is a far cry from providing the data to them proving that it is damaged internally.
