Compression numbers for twin turbo FD3S

Hey guys, I am buying a RHD twin turbo FD3S very soon and a friend of mine asked me to tell the seller to do a compression test on the engine. What numbers would be normal or good for the test??

If you could help me out that would be great cause he only told me that lower numbers could possibly mean a blown apex seal...

You are going to get flamed on like hard core for this question. Why buy a rhd buy a lhd and forget about all that crap. Dont even waste your time you will not be able to register it. Plus who wants to try to pass with that crap.

But yourmom is right, you'll pay more for the car and have a headache on your hands. not only registering it but also modding the car especially if you plan on doing any thing with the turbos (ie switch to single or non-sequential)

O boy. You have alot of work ahead of you. Do a search. You'll find tons of information. I have only seen one legally registered RHD car that is currently being sold right now. They took a pic of the registration and everything, its a yellow FD. All the other ones seem sketchy at best. Just don't do it.

Also FDs from Japan are a crap shoot. You might get a really nice one but you probably will get a huge mess. Just stay away from them.

FYI, the page that was linked gives good information. I wouldn't take a car with less than 105psi and even then thats only mediocre.

Many rhd fd owners have problems. When i got mine i blew the engine two weeks later, a apex seal which blew my turbos, i got a good deal on the car so i was waiting for it to go. many other things had to be changed as well rad, ast, some cracked sillicon hoses stock bov was jammed and clogged cat was finished also. but once u get it running good its all worth it. check for compression above 110 or expect to change motors or rebuild. its also a bitch to pass inspection so make sure its inspected and plated. before u do anything read as much as you can to learn this car

do you really want to pay 3k more than you should have to. Then pay and additional 3k when the motor blows cuz it will. Also you will not be able to pass emmisions testing in many places. The engine has a lack of an egr valve. you can get a clean lhd for 13,000 with a freashly rebuilt motor that will last way longer than a original engine car in my opinion. DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed. I personally think that unless you can get a healthy 96+ FD with all its extra benefits, definitely for a 99+, its not worth going RHD. Just stick with a LHD car man.
