Common tranny failures?

Looks like I may be removing the transmission to repair an engine-oil leak. (Rear main and/or stationary gear seal) I plan on rebuilding the tranny while its out because of a weak 2nd gear synchronizer, but what other hard parts regularly need to be replaced?

Transmission has 90K miles and is seemingly in great shape except for 2nd gear. I have had Neo in it for the last several years.

I know about the common 5th gear problems, and since mine is a '95 model it already has the updated shift-control spring.

Anyone know of other weak spots or common failures; bearings, shafts, etc.? I read one post that mentioned the fork and front bearing cover that supports the throw-out bearing. Are either of these really issues for an almost stock daily driver?

Check the fluid with a magnet before you throw it out. That will tell you alot. Also the hydrolic line off of the master cylinder . That might be needing to be checked. Also replace the clutch all those goodies.
