Comments on RX-7 for sale
I'm looking to buy an rx-7 and heard all these horror stories about the engines. What do you think about this one?
Price $11,000
Mileage 73,500
***NEED TO SELL SOON***This car has been cared for like my only child and I am regretably selling her due to a move overseas. Sasha, as we called her is a Touring edition which has sunroof, leather, cruise control, CD with Bose sound, fog lights, and rear spoiler. She also has the Pettit Racing base performance package, aluminum AST, and silicone boost hoses, all of which add 60hp and make the car very reliable. Every tankful gets Pettit Racing Protek R lubricant and Chevron Supreme fuel only. Oil changed every 2,000 miles or less with Valvoline Racing 20w50/KnN oil filter. Always cooled down for at least 1 minute with the hood up after driving. Has 18" chrome MOMO ARROWS, Kumho tires 235/40 in front, 265/35 in rear, and carbon fiber interior. Washed, waxed, and detailed every month with only Meguiars products. Driven to church and lunch each Sunday only. Has always had her own garage and been treated with the utmost respect in regards to her appearance and health. Low miles, rare, and in good condition inside and out. No accidents, original engine, turbos, and transmission.
Also ran a carfax and it was clean.

BTW if your young or old (Im 19 so nothign against the young) just be careful. My friend just crashed his WRX today driving like a complete moron. Thats the truth. No need to be boosting everywhere. Good luck, if you get it and I see your in NC so that puts you in the SE Forums as well. Maybe we can meet at track events or something one day!

Thats looks pretty nice and the ad sounds like the current owner is not an idiot and took good care of it. I don't like the wheels and I wouldn't want an automatic, but that car still seems like a pretty good deal at $11k assuming it runs well.

I feel bad for Sasha. I feel bad that they're moving away and abandoning Sasha. Lucky for you if it's a good as they say it is it would be a good buy. Like everyone said, I don't know about the wheels, because if birds could poop sideways those things would be covered in it. I only say this because I washed my car today and the paint got hit.
Also its a matter of choice but sticks are more fun. Be good to her.

motor will need to be replaced soon...as in "soon for a motor. 73,500 is considered old and tired for a rotary engine. (but the price if VERY fair to compensate for that.) Even if it was VERY well taken care of.
my $0.02
my $0.02
Find a local 7 owner and ask to sit in his car so you can tell if you fit. 6'4" is pushing it.
Otherwise I agree with Max and dubulup. Ask for a compression check as it is rare that an original motor makes it this long.

Looks like a good buy, if you are a girlie girl racer.. haha
BUT IMO, save yourself the hassle and headache later.
Skip the AUTO, wait for a Manual.
Trust me.. when you have people admiring your car
and then look inside and they say " eww its a automatic'
with that disappointed look on their face.. You'll know.
Not to mention.. You can only go so fast with an Auto.
Goodluck

I just emailed him and ask him if he would get a compression check. Also if the engine needs to be replaced soon, where and how much does it cost? Also how long will the new engine run for.
the new engine will run anywhere between 2k-100k although 50-70 seems to be the average for the cars.
If you take it to a shop and have a new engine put in it will run you around 4500 for a complete job done well. If you want to take matters into your own hands you can but a rebuilt engine for about 3000ish or just a mazda reman for 2200.
also the price seems average considering its an auto..

I made it 130,000 miles original motor, turbos, and manual tranny, before my coolant seals finally decided to give in and I boost and redline like crazy on a daily basis. Well atleast thats what I think the problem is, I think the switch in climate from moving from MD to south FL prolly didnt help things. Might not even be the problem but at 130k I think its time to throw in the towel anyway. Haven't ripped Raven apart yet to rebuild but i'm pretty sure the problem is coolant seals not the cooling system.
Sounds like a good buy but personally i wouldnt buy a car with an auto tranny
unless a manual was easily obtainable for a swap.

sounds about fair. If he is in that much of a hurry to sell the car, i bet you could prolly low ball him. i bet you could pick that car up for about 9k considering its got that amount of mile on original engine and it is an auto tranny.
Dont worry about the tranny. 11k that is a good deal. It looks to be in great shape and the FD is getting harder to find in good shape. I agree the motor is probable due to be replaced along with the turbos. Good luck.
I would jump on it for 11k..........

That looks like it's in great condition. But damn the Auto. The engine bay looks pristine but dirt free does not mean problem free. But Just from the look of it, I'd say it was very well taken care of. Buy it if you don't mind the automatic. Is that real carbon fiber on the interior? or is that film over the panels? It looks great though.
