Code 11 problems?

I've recently ran into a lot of problems with my FD. It runs fairly rich, sometimes there is quite a struggle to get it started, the car dies when it is in gear and the ac is on, and it just isn't performing like it used to... the diagnostic code reads code 11.. which i read is a thermosensor under the upper intake manifold... could this be the cause of ALL of these problems? I am having it replaced or fixed soon but i just hope not to run into any unpleasant suprises... if anyone has any input i would appreciate it... -casey

I would start with getting that replaced. It's very easy to do if you want to do it yourself. You can order the Air Intake Thermosensor from Ray:

Malloy Mazda
1-888-533-3400
Talk to Ray Crowe

If you need any help getting it installed, shot me a PM and I can help you over the phone. Or, if you don't mind a road trip, you could come up to KC and I could help you out as well.

you don't even need to pull the UIM to get to the sensor. remove the black box in front of the UIM and there is a sensor with a wire. replace it with an open wrench.

the part is pretty expensive. mine from the local dealer was $75 and that was supposed to a fairly decent price. some dealers charge $90 so call around. malloy should be a good start.

get it replaced soon or else you are damaging the engine. when you read the ecu, did any other codes pop up? is your car well maintained? if not, do the full 60k service to get rid of all the old fluids and start looking into getting the old vac hoses replaced with silicon ones.
