Clutch switch on starter interrupt broke

Here's a new one. I go to start the car for the fourth run of the day at yesterday's autox and when I push the clutch in I hear something small and plastic break; the car won't start. There's some little plastic button that snaps into a tab on the clutch pedal which operates the clutch switch on the starter interrupt switch. When that piece broke off the pedal the switch no longer operated so you couldn't start the car!

I had to put the car in neutral and reach under the dash to hold the switch down while I started the car. Later I bypassed the switch by unplugging it and adding a jumper across the terminals. The parts sheet doesn't show this little piece available seperately from the clutch pedal so I'm going to have to create something to stick back in there.

It's always something!

That's what I was thinking. Since my part broke into pieces I can't be sure what it looked like, but it didn't look like anything special. If it wasn't anything special I don't understand why it was present in the first place though? The switch is already plastic so there's no danger of a short.

It looks like a grommet but instead of it having a hole there. It's just solid across. lol it took us while to figure out why his car wouldnt start. only by checking my car did we finally figure it out.

every car i have ever seen with a clutch switch has a plastic piece that goes in a hole to depress the switch. plastic on plastic is always better than metal on plastic. damon a retainer push pin (gm type) for interior body panels is great when you get the right size
