clutch/shifting problem

just got my car back on the road after installing act extreme clutch with street disc and redline mtl. my problem is when i first start the car it is very hard to get in gear, i've had to start the car in reverse to back out of the garage a couple times. after a few tough gear changes everything seams to loosen up and the car shifts great. i've only put about 50 miles on the car since clutch went in, is this common or do i have something seriously wrong?

Have heard a lot of problems, and have seen a lot of threads, concerning this problem, after an aftermarket clutch, pp installation. It just seems as though the pp isn't releasing from the disc completely. The only words I have is to make sure the line is not expanding, and or the fork isn't distorted, therefore some travel might be lost. I have never put a mic on the replacement discs, but I'd like to see thickness compared to stock disc, if there is any difference. This might account for the trouble.
My son, years ago, had a Trans Am, and after replacing assembly with a custom unit (We had the pressure plate beefed up at a local shop along with a fabricated custom disc) same problem, if you pushed it to the floor, you might be able to shift. On his, I made up a custom rod which gave him a little longer travel and it was fine.
