Clutch release cylinder installation advice?

I had a mishap on my first attempt, where the piston in the cylinder blew out when I pressed the clutch, and the brake fluid leaked out. I recovered the push rod, put it back together and reconnected. Now I need to add some brake fluid.

Can anyone offer advice for my next try? Is it straightforward, or maybe I had the push rod misaligned?

Thanks - Tom
