Clutch release confusion...

I am trying to get the transmission separated from the engine. I removed the 5 bolts on the bell housing and have the service hole uncovered and can see the release fork. Do I just push the release fork and pull on the transmission?

You need to stick a screw driver up and push on the ring around the throw out bearing. Once that's disengaged, you can remove the trans.

To clarify, you need to push the wedge collar into the pressure plate. When doing so, it will release the lock on the throw-out bearing. If the throw-out bearing doesn't pop out of the wedge collar automatically; use a second screwdriver/pry bar to pop it back once you have the wedge collar pushed into the pressure plate.

its much easier to get it 2 release if u remove the slave cylinder first.

I agree. I had a similar issue until I removed the slave cylinder.

Nope. It's from the sticky FAQs...under "clutch". Mr. Rogers or not, he's helped a lot of people with that little vid......a picture being worth a thousand words and all.
