Why not wait until you know one is needed. I've seen clutches last 150,000 miles. If you do not like the feel because it's too soft, replace it with a stonger assembly. If it's not slipping or chattering, why go through all the expense?

You will be able to tell when it is slipping. You will have considerably less power. Get on the express way and put it in 4th gear, punch it, if your tach is rising but the speed is bearly going anywhere then it is slipping. I agree that you should wait till you know for sure because it is rather expensive to replace. You have to buy the clutch ~$450 then resurface the flywheel ~??? or get a light weight one ~$400 and then you have to do it yourself ~$0 or get someone else to install it ~$300-500. Of course it is your car.....

What tt says is true, if you get on it and no noticable increase in speed occurs then your clutch is on its way out. Another old time test is to ( now don't get on me about this guys, cause it works ) put car in third let clutch out fairly rapidly ( dump it ) DO NOT give the car any fuel. If it stalls - clutch is good if it slips - clutch is bad. Do NOT do this test repeatadly, once a year or when in doubt. Tom
