Clutch pedal all the way in
Clutch pedal all the way in
The other day i was driving the rx7 and the clutch pedal went all the way in. Before that i was getting a little bit of trouble engaging the shift. Well the motor was rebuilt and after everything got put together it was hard to engage the shift. The condition of the clutch was not bad. After i manage to get the car home the clutch pedal if up but if hard to pull down, actually i can't go down now. Could this be the master clutch cylinder before i take out the transmission ? I did not see any broken lines for the clutch cylinder and i have fluid in the reservoir. Any ideas or recommendations ? Thanks
Best advice I'd say is pull the inspection cover off the bellhousing, get a torch, mirror, etc, and inspect....preferably with someone in car. Could understand a broken fork, causing the first symptom, not going down at all now, is something I wouldn't normally associate with that however.
It's either clutch hydraulics or a broken clutch fork. Inspect al the hydraulics for leaks - clutch master, clutch slave, and the rubber flex hose. The clutch master typically leaks on its back end where the clutch pedal's rod goes into it, you can see it up under the dash.
The clutch master gets fluid from the brake fluid reservoir, there's a "wall" inside the reservoir. Make sure that back part is full, if it's low or empty there's a sure sign.
Clutch fork can be a little tricker to spot, you'll have to look through the inspection panel on the bottom of the car. The transmission has to be dropped to replace it.
If you do have one part of the hydraulic system that's bad, replace EVERYTHING. When one goes, the others will soon go as well. Get a new clutch master, clutch slave, and stainless braided clutch line. Do it all once and right and you won't have to worry about it for another 100,000 miles.

The throwout bearing fail, one of the corner is broken, already started to pull down the transmission. I found one new bearing in Oreillys. Let's see how it goes. My 5th gear grind, i might well do fix that after taking down the transmission. Let's see how it goes.
