Clutch, maybe transmission problem?

Hey all,

Just wanted to see if I can get some preliminary opinions on what this problem could be. Here's the symptoms:

-Can shift into gear without pressing clutch pedal
-Cannot shift into gear once engine is started
-When I start the car in 1st gear, car will roll forward, hence it feels like the clutch got stuck.

So methinks it's an issue with the master/slave cylinder, since the clutch seems to be stuck in the engaged position. Any other thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Is the clutch pedal sticking to the floor when the engine is running? If so, sounds like you either got some air pocket in the hydralic lines that need bleeding. Or maybe either the clutch master or clutch slave cylinders need to be rebuilt.

Its not that difficuilt to rebuild both for under $90, call Ray Crowe of Ray Malloy Mazda and say you're an RX-7 member for a discount. 1-888 533 3400. I had the same problem and rebuilt both cyclinders last year...works like a charm. Remember to first prime the Master cylinder first before installing.

No, the pedal isn't sticking to the floor. In fact, I don't even think that pressing/depressing the pedal is actually releasing/engaging the clutch.

Thanks for the input!

Does the clutch pedal vibrate when you lightly put your foot on it? Could be a lot of things, from your hydraulics needing a bleed, broken clutch master/slave/both, or clutch fork broken (which is what happened to me)

What he said - and include wire ring disengaged/broken. Open up the plate and take a look in there, see what's going on.

Thanks to all for their input. In terms of vibration, I don't feel any from the clutch pedal.

I think my worst fear is having to replace the clutch, and (although I won't truly find out until it's inspected), it doesn't seem to be the case.

OP, please report back...WHAT WAS THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM?

I'm having the same issue with my clutch right now...ordered a new master and slave cylinder...Pulled the inspection plate but really can't see sh*t in terms of a broken clutch fork.
