clutch job, pilot bearing?

I'm in the middle of a clutch job and am not sure what a pilot bearing is. Here is a pic of the parts I got. I know the throwout bearing is the one on the left. Is the small bearing on the right the pilot bearing? It is a metal bushing with a rubber ring attached. Or is this just the seal? Where does the pilot bearing go? Can anyone help me out here?

I am contimplating doing a clutch job myself, just how big of a job is it? Or how much would a shop charge to do it. I am really hesitant about someone else touching my car though, seeing as I am the only person who has done work to my car. Sorry for the no help response.

The thing on the right is just the pilot seal. If you take it apart and poke your pinky into the hole in the end of the eccentric shaft you can feel the pilot bearing. If your car has relatively low miles, and everything feels ok in there, maybe you can get away without replacing it. If it's high miles or the bearing is damaged or missing parts, you need to replace it. I think it's like 10 bucks. (But it's a bitch to get out without the proper tools).

Pilot bearing was replaced about 30k miles ago. I'll look at the one thats in there and if its ok just leave it. Don't feel like pressing in a new one.

i would replace while everything is apart. it might be a little pain in the *** now, but if you have to take the whole damn thing (i mean tranny) back apart just to replace it cause you were too lazy when you had the chance, you will regret it. I had to take the tranny off and everything included in that cause my pilot bearing shattered. Nothing else was wrong with the clutch, but it was a pain in the ***.
