clutch job

Does anyone know if there is a special tool from Mazda that is needed to do
a clutch job? I atttempted it this past weekend and could not pull the
transmission housing off...looks like some tool is needed to loosen some
bolts that can be seen from that little "door" in the housing? Thanks in
advance.

Did you disconnect the clutch? That is why the access panel is there. Be sure to replace the wedge collar and wire ring. I have a brand new extra set I'll sell you if you need them.

yea, u have to unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel

then when the trannys downand in front of u u push against the press plate and in the middle arround the throw out bearing theres a retaning ring,
if u push against the press plate u can see it easier..then take a little screwdriver and pop the ring out all arround...
