clutch and flywheel
Hey all,
I'm going to be purchsasing an aluminum flywheel and new cluch. Recomendations please ...
I'm looking at the combos on RX7store.net and .com. The ACT cluch has 40% more clamping load. I'm thinking of paying the extra $$$ to seperate the combo and go with the M2 at 15% extra. I don't plan on pushing this car past 325RWHP ... ever. Thoughts?
Should I just go with the ACT cluch or will I regret the extra pedal effort over the M2?
Thanks all!
PS ... feel free to tell me where the best deals are!

I got a 6-puck sprung hub clutch from Mazdatrix with a +28% pressure plate and an 11lb aluminum flywheel.
I really, really like the 6-puck sprung hub. Very solid engagement. It's pretty much a button (on/off) clutch, but the sprung hub gives it a wee bit more play.
I had an ACT S/S before...it was okay. Just felt like the stock clutch with a little more pedal effort.

You won't regret it, after my clutch lit up I decided to go with the RB lightened steel flywheel and the ACT s/s clutch. I'm very happy with this set up and have been for about 4 months now. Like GotBoosted7 said however, it's not dramatically different from the stock clutch, just a quicker engagement and faster acceleration. If you want more of an extreme feel, you may want to go with a set up more similar to his.

Actually, it sounds like the Act clutch is just what I want. I've been driving a manual trans since I learned how to drive some 16 years ago ... I'm sure that I could adjust to the black and white / on and off feel of the 6 puck clutch that GotBoosted7 has ... I really want a more casual feel however.
