Clutch Adjustment - is the pedal the only way?

I recently noticed my clutch engaging very high in the pedal action, actually engaging 2cm-3cm before it tops out. So I broke my back adjusting the arm that attaches the pedal to whatever is in there, and the only thing that did was make the entire clutch throw less.
So instead of having:

|--------x-| (top)

i now have:

|------x-| (top)

it does feel better, but the engagement is still very high in the overall action of the pedal. I was wondering if there is anything i can do to make it:

|-----x----|

where the engagement is close to the center of the pedal action, or if I just have to deal with it.

BTW I'm new here, and an FD owner for about a month now. My first car was an 87 Honda CRX, and this is my 2nd car. =P =P

Having your clutch engage closer to the top is actually better . Shifting will be easier because the clutch will be engaged sooner, and you have fewer "missed" shifts. You do want a little play, and it sounds like you have found the proper place to make the adjustment.

Since you have only had the car for a short time, I suggest that you get used to having it engage higher on the throw.

make sure you leave some free play in the pedal.

Yea, I was driving it around a lot today and it actually feels great. There is a little play left at the top, and there is a lot less travel overall, which now that I have driven it that way, feels good. It also feels stiffer, which I like.

I still miss 2nd every once in awhile though.
