When I accelerate from 3k rpm in one of the upper 3 gears the car feels like it is in nuetral.It will rapidly shoot up to around 4500k with no acceleration.It then will drop back down and accelerate normally.The car has never done this in first or second.Any ideas?

 

Sounds like a slipping clutch to me.

 

Slipping clutch. Either worn clutch or weak pressure plate. In lower gear rpm rises rapidly a/c of lower overall ratio. Less resistance. In higher gears, it takes more force to get everything moving. Engine trying to spin up quickly, but with higher overall ratio more resistance. Hope this helps.

The ACT street-strip is a great unit. I posted a thread up here in the third gen section about it.

 

You should probably upgrade to a stainless steel clutch line.
