Clunking sound from transmission

Now that i have solid transmission brace, all tranny sounds are heared in the cabin much louder. there is a strange unhealthy clunking sound from the front side of the gearbox, not under the shifter. it happens only when i press the clutch during decceleration at low rpms. it sounds like two metal pieces clunking at eachother . the car has 43K miles on it how can it be a serious transmission issue at that milage. could this be a bad or loose engine mount?
