cloud of smoke question

ok so yesterday i was running a mustang and i was in 4th at about 120 and a huge cloud of brown/black (i know its fuel) smoke came out of the rear but there was no pop just a hesitation and it continued to pull. it then it smoked really bad with a blue color (oil burning) i thought i could have possibly blew out a turbo oil seal. the turbos still boost and car starts easy an pulls hard (ran an m3 after the mustang)

need some help diagnosing this issue please

thanks

mike

Don't dismiss the turbos just becasue the car still pulls. My turbos were leaky as hell and the car still pulled like a muthaf@wker.

Does the car smoke while idling, or only when driving while the engine has some load on it?

yea it smokes while idling also but only till it gets nice and hot then it only smokes sometimes at idle. i also noticed that my dip stick keeps getting pushed up a little bit.

Sounds like your building up crankcase pressure... Do you have your pcv valve in backwards? How many miles are on your new motor?

new motor has about 19,000 miles on it and i have only one hose coming off of my oil fill tube and that runs to the primary turbo inlet.

i was driving it today and my idle has always been rich so i turned the idle up to 1000rpms to keep it smooth and it seems like everyonce in a while it will drop down to about 600-800 and will slowly rise back up.

the cloud that came out of my exhaust was pretty big too.. still need an explanation of that.

Hum, sounds like my problem.....except my car doesn't smoke unless I am on it.....then a huge cloud of smoke follows me for 30 seconds or so after I let off. I hope it's not the turbo as it is fairly new.

I was thinking maybe I just needed an oil catch can since oil is comming out of my BOV! I was also thinking maybe oil was dripping on my exhaust since I haven't fixed my oil leak yet.

When I lost the stock turbo on my Eclipse, it would only smoke after boosting. It would follow me like a trail for a few hundred yards.

Here's the strange part though, The car did not do this until I replace a blown motor. I did put in a Bridgeport motor that was originallly premix only, and we converted it back to oil injection. Not sure if if maybe now I just have too much oil in the engine.

Did you just install this motor? I'll bet money if you did the pcv is in backwards! Could be those 2mm seals buddy jk
