click but no start???

the other day i went to go start my car and it wouldn't start. all it did was click when i turned the ignition. I checked the battery, battery poles, alternator, and clutch switch. and im pretty sure its not the starter cause when i unplugged the turbo timer and grounded off the ignition switch it started. then i plugged back in the turbo timer and some times it will start some times it wont. weird. im pretty sure there is an ignition problem. have any of you guys had similar problems? and i was thinking about getting an ignition amp. like a HKS twin power. will that help the problem any?

I know you mentioned that the battery was checked but FWIW, I had a similar problem. I checked everything I could think of, including the grounds and even added a couple. Because my battery was only a few months old, it was the last thing I suspected, but ended up being the problem. A weak cell, low voltage. With a new battery (on warranty), all was well again.
