Clearancing for 3mm Apex Seals
Hi all. I'm in the process of re-building an older single conversion. I got lucky and both rotors and housings were still in good shape even though one of the apex seals was damaged and others were sticking.
Here's the problem, the previous build used 3mm 2-piece carbon seals and I've found that the original apex seal clearancing was too small. I have a set of 3mm 2-piece NRS ceramic seals and they call for 0.002-0.003, but I can't slide a 0.0015 through.
I've thought about taking a straight edge with some fine grit sand paper wrapped around to make clearance... The other option is to try to have them machined. Does anyone know a competent machine shop, familiar with rotors, near/around the Houston area? Any thoughts appreciated!
