Cigarette Lighter Power
Cigarette Lighter Power
Is there a way to cut off power to the cigarette lighter? A fuse maybe, I'd rather not cut wires as I'd like to retain stock functuality for the future.
I'd look through the wiring diagrams and see what you can find. You can download a copy of the diagram and the body/electric manual if you need them.
Out of curiosity, why do you want to disable it?

haha sorry finney i want to be able to hook it back up some day if necessary.
I am disabling it because I am putting a piece of dowling in the lighter socket and using it to mount my Power FC Commander.

Crazy idea...unplug it!! pull the gauge plastic off and then remove the plug for the cig lighter. otherwise cutting or wiring in a switch to control it is your only option.. unless you pull the cigar fuse and don't mind not having radio and other little things like that. Since the cigar fuse is the switched power feed for the radio and others.
I have a write up on removing the dash to get back to that area if you would like it. I can PM it to you.

necro a little bit..
but this saves me from making a new thread. my cigarette lighter isnt plugged in and for the life of me cant find where its supposed to be plugged in. i tried following the natural bend the wires have in hopes it would lead me to the plug... but no.
anyone can show me where the socket is for it?
