check valve question

Sooo, im in the middle of doing the vaccum hose replacement to work on a boost problem (secondary drops to 7psi), and the check valve between the pruge control solenoid and the uim (the mettal one) is flowing both ways clearly. I ordered a set of viton valves from Dale Clark, but not for this one as i understand. according to https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/viton-check-valves-quick-question-604757/ it shouldnt break, and I can just clean it. first of all, I doubt it would be my problem, but what would be the effect of this valve not checking. and second, how would I go about trying to clean it?

Cheers,
Dale

actually the solonoid seems to alow air to flow to the catch can even when closed (but not the other direction). I suppsose that wouldnt matter if the check valve were working correctly. but is that normal?

Use some carb cleaner to clean out the metal check valve. That's worked for me on some cars I've worked on. That check valve isn't super critical - if you get boost into the charcoal canister, you MIGHT get a slight fuel smell, that's it.
