Check out my NARDI wheel ... funny story and pics inside.

So I installed a Nardi sport type b steering wheel. The install wasn't too bad. I had it in for a day and realized it was sligthly off centre. The next day I needed to install a couple gauges and therefore needed to remoe the steering wheel anyway, so I waited.

Well my gauge install went awry, and I was vey frustrated after killing my stock fuel pressure gauge. I proceeded to remove my steering wheel hub to reposition it. I pulled and pulled on the steering wheel and it wouldn't budge. I yanked and pulled, and pulled and yanked until...

Note the pattern on my nose matches the perforated leather pattern of the wheel. I hit myself so hard it broke lood vessles in the pattern of the leather. Lesson: don't work on your car when you are frustrated.

Oh well, the finished product is worth it.

Better pics to come when it's light out.

Next time, instead of yanking on it, try to walk the wheel side to side, then up and down.

As far as 93-95 FDs are concerned, Left Hand Drive Rx7s > Right Hand drive Rx7s, from a performance standpoint as far as i know.

96+, Stock for stock, the J-spec ones started getting improvements.

Good to know I'm not the only one.

Not this time. It's already been broken from kickboxing, so now it hurts when I hit it lightly. This wheel whacking incident brought tears to my eyes.

That's a pretty good idea. I can think of some other times when a pillow over someone's would have come in handy too.

Tried that, it wasn't going anywhere. I overtightened the nut the 1st time I put it on.

JDM has no pre-cat. I guess this is beneficial. I think other than emissions stuff all 92-95 RX-7 models were the same in JAP and NA.

I like driving RHD cars, I've been doing it for 2 years now (many different JDM cars). They are a novelty and a conversation piece. I also like that our local circuit is mostly right turns so I'm always on the inside to tell exactly where my apex is.

Japanese spec Rx-7s also have the dis-advantage that on a Right Hander Rx-7 the steering column assembly is right in the way of the turbo and down-pipe.

On a Left hander Rx7, there is a ton more space to run whatever choice of turbo and down-pipe size. (A lot of shops in japan wish they had left hander rx7s for this reason, it makes their life easier for bigger power)

If you notice, a lot of the Japanese down-pipe upgrades have that "flat spot" on them, to clear the steering assembly.

That is one of the main advantages too. Also part of the reason when RE AMEMIYA built the 3 rotor turbo for Tokyo Auto Salon 2008, he picked a Left Hand drive Rx7.

A steering wheel puller is pretty cheap from the parts store, you could even make it out of 3 bolts and a rectangular metal piece

But it's funner this way :P

If you do not mind me asking.

Ouch looks painful! I hope you're doing ok now! I pull steering wheels with my arms locked straight and the seat tilted back for this exact reason. Stubborn wheels get whacked in the 12, 6, 3, and 9 positions before attempting to pull again.

I forgot to mention I also have a RHD rx7. I dont have the clockspring but no airbags. The factory clockspring has a little outlet where the stock horn wire plugs into and it sticks out and prevents my hub to sit flush....im stuck, any help would be great

Re-read the post. I describe exactly which wires need to touch to honk the horn. I'm not sure about your specific application, but with the knowledge of which two wires need to touch, you should be able to rig something up. If you want to take some pics and label them I would gladly help you out though. I just can't help if I don't know what I'm looking at.

No you can't have the wheel. With no SRS if I die at least I will die in style.

You were the only one to notice the gauges.
