Exclamation cheap airbox mod

hi guys
just wanted to get some feedback on whether my idea is ok
or am i a total idiot.
i was thinking with the stock airbox, i replace the filter and with the bottom half
i cut away the entire bottom half leaving only the ridges that hold the filter in place
and provide the bolt housings. that way i have nothing but the panel filter itself as the bottom half of the airbox....
of course i would fabricate a shield to direct cold airflow.
so would this be a viable option for a cheap and easy diy airbox mod ?

It's a great idea, but your not the first.....

Cutting away the entire bottom half of the box isn't necessarily helpful though, since then you'll be drawing in heated air from under the hood. If your interested, adamC provides a kit for this as well, but I'm not sure if he ships international.

Thanks Jim.

Cutting out the entire airbox bottom is a bad idea. It will allow too much hot air into the airbox. My kit provides a custom made aluminum shield and detailed installation instructions. $80 shipped to Australia (cheap).
