Charge Relief Valves

Can these go bad....stock ones that is. Mine feels like when the primary tries to switch it doens't. Im thinking the primary vents into airbox when it is done, then stays open, not allowing boost to get into secondary. I have no secondary, and only pulling 5psi till about 4500 then a steady fall. But secondary has no boost. any help would be great.

since you only have 5 psi till 4500 this tells me you have a primary turbocharger leak. you need 8 psi of boost on the primary in order to work the actuators on the secondary. if you think it's staying open take it off the airbox and listen. on the crv you should hear air coming out of it till 4500, then it is supposed to close. check this site out for some more help. nick

What would be the cause if you just boost 10psi on the primary Sometimes??

nmo93 is right, you most likely have a leak somewhere that is preventing the seconday from coming on. Have you checked the rubber hoses at the y-pipe and IC ducts? These are well known areas to split, or sometimes they will start leaking right at the clamps, but at least then you can try retighten them.

I took both of the charge valves off of the airbox, and no change....the secondary one, i think the one on the bottom, wouldn't come off so have to switch those when i can get in there. But no change....is that good or bad? By taking them off i mean off the airbox, they were still attached to there hose just not the airbox. also i noticed that there was no hose coming off the drivers side of the airbox just an open nipple....could that be a problem?

if your talking about a 1" nipple (i think) on the side of the airbox, that isn't supposed to have a hose. all that does is vent the air from the air pump to the atmosphere. did you check the ic hoses for cracks, esp the coupler coming off the turbos like fdjunkie said? also check the inlet hoses going to the turbo. nick
