changing color or bulb in apexi mech. boost gauge?

I know this should be posted in the interior section, but I just thought most of the 3rd gen guys might have a better idea.

Anyone know how I can change the color on the apexi mechanical boost gauge? The gauge itself works fine but the night time illumination is aqua, which doesn't match anything in my interior. I took a look and it seems like it's seal solid, but I was wondering if I can cut it open? Has anyone done this before?

All the newer Apexi gauges use EL lighting - there is no bulb. This is the same technology used to illuminate a lot of watches - it's a flat film that can light up.

It's pretty much impossible to open any aftermarket gauge - the case is crimped together, and you end up butchering it if you try and open it up. It's like trying to re-install a metal bottle cap.

If you don't like the illumination, sell it for a gauge that lights up the way you want.
