changed oil, now white smoke

did anybody change their motor oil to 5w30 and saw white smoke or more white smoke coming out of the exhuast? i drained it and put in 4 quarts of chevron supreme 5w30 and a purolator pureone oil filter. i didn't notice it before until after the oil change. also, the exhaust fumes kind of smells like gasoline yuck.

pour new oil in slowly, or it will fill the vent tubes. this results in oil into combustion chambers (and IC) or oil back through turbine seals (stinky smoke).

Or get a funnel with a long neck that reaches below the PCV vacuum line where it enters the oil filler tube. It keeps the new oil from running into the vacuum line. Also, in your mild climate you might do better with 10W-30.

its ironic you have problems after oil change, considering you just wrote a 7 page how-to on changing your oil.

You have purchased a nice car. Don't use crappy oil in it. Only use a high quality oil, preferably a synthetic.
