Which CAT's have 3" piping?

Hi all

I'm currently looking into the various aftermarket Catalytic Converters. I'm currently running a OEM CAT where the cells were replaced with a 100 cell CAT inside, however after the recent mapping of the car the backpreassure from the CAT was the restricting factor, hence i'm intending to change that one.

I looked at the various ones available, like the rx7store.net one, some maganflow CAT's etc. but mostly it doesn't really state the piping size, unfortunately.

I'm currently running a 3" GReddy downpipe and a HKS Super Turbo Muffler, which is also 3" piping, just the original Cat is smaller.

Criterias:
- 3" piping
- Connection for Air Pump

Thanks for your advices

Thanks guys, that already helps.
@Sgtblue do you know where i can order the Bonez? I can't order it from rx7.com as it doesn't allow shipping to Europe. Guess otherwise i'll just have to go with the Petit one, as they offer shipment at a reasonable price.
@Bajaman happy with the SS one?

Rotary Performance Catalytic Converter

Had the Bonez previously. When it expired, I installed this one from Rotary Performance. Not sure if shipment to Europe is a problem or not.

Lots of good choices it seems. Best of luck with your project!

Don't know if anyone else noticed but many cat makers say 3" but they have a 2.75" flange then they turn to 3". I heard the reason for this is so they bolt up to the stock exhaust system. Only some cat makers are truly 3" so be careful might want to contact them first. Magnaflow I know they are 2.75 and Bonez are true 3".

You might want to look into one of these as well. May or may not suit what you want, with the air tube and all. The air tube can be installed upstream, however.

The OEM cat would be a full 2 1/2 inches **IF** the welds were not on the inside. The inside welds effectively reduce the opening to 2 1/8 inches. I welded my cat on the outside (always do this first), and then ground down both of the inside welds to make a full 2 1/2 inch oem cat. This made a noticeable difference in performance, and things seemed to flow much better. This is an affordable mod, with no downside. Definitely worth trying before spending a bunch of money on a new cat plus shipping.

Hey IRPerformance.

Does your reply indicate, that the Bonez and Rx7store cats are good (-> not using metal substrate), or that theymre using them? Sorry i'm just not quite sure

Anyone tried one of these vibrant gesi cats? They give a good pitch; high quality, higher quantities of catalytic agents, they state that the catalytic material won't come lose and rattle. Haven't heard whether they hold up to rotary heat though.

I think what was meant above is that you should stick with proven hi-flow cats...Bonez and RX7 store being two with build quality, performance and longevity. My Bonez is probably 15 hrs old and still going.
