Catalyic Converter Pricings

Does anyone know the pricing for a catalyic converter for a '93 FD? I'm going to look at the car tomorrow and the guy said that the car is missing the converter. He's asking $10000 (the car has 93k). Any positive feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can usually find a used one for anywhere from free to $50

Exactly, lots of used stock ones around. You can also pick up a brand new aftermarket cat (emissions legal) for ~$400 from several vendors.

Just took the stocker off my car and upgraded to a high-flow. Easy job to do with an impact wrench, jack, and lots of wd-40! Buy parts off of the for-sale section here, don't go to the dealer unless it's the last resort! Ahhh, wish I could sleep.....

If i had to replace mine i would go with a highflow. The stockers are known to clog over time causing excess backpressure

JESUS! don't ever pay 1000 for that. I wouldn't pay more then 2-3 hundred for one. ebay is your friend and for sale section. instead of posting here how much an item should be, check that area first and search there and I'm sure you'll find what people are selling them for.

that happens often. remember that you generally get what you pay for. if you are looking for cheap ones, they will generally be pieces of shyte.

First the guy claims he doesn't have the title with him ("moved from Chicago") then when I test drove it, engine stutters around 5000RPM. I don't know what the problem is nor do I care enough to fix it so...

Yeah don't buy that car.

1) it's the seller's responsability to smog the car. So why are you going around looking for a cat?
2) No tittle. Stutters. Sounds like problems...
3) Plenty of FD's around here in Cali so why settle for a lemon
