FL Carfax history question : FD roller

I am looking at purchasing an FD roller and the Carfax report shows that the car was reported stolen and in an accident back in May of 2002. NICB check shows that the vehicle is not currently reported as stolen but as far as the accident damage, I have no way of knowing how serious it was. Current seller is not aware of any accident damage as it was a part out of a former customers car. I will reserve judgement until I see the car tomorrow but just want to get some second opinions regarding this info.

What do you plan to do with the car? Anything with that kind of history is not going to be worth much even after being fixed up unless you make it a gutted race/track car.

Was planning to make it a street car, but the title issues would def hurt any chance of resale. Supposed to be a clean NC title.

Things get weird from state to state when transferring titles. I bought my car from Tennessee with a clean title and didn't question it. As it would turn out I have been working on the car for 3 years and found some hidden frame damage. Ran an auto check and the car was totaled in 1996 in MD, moved to NC, and then to TN where it got a clean title for whatever reason. Use the carfax as a tool and then inspect thoroughly in person.

Just got another email from the NICB stating that they have no record of the car being reported stolen at any time and that they will be contacting Carfax to remove this information from their database. The seller is an Rx7 shop owner who built the car around 2005 and advised that he has had the car on the lift and saw no damage. Will be doing a thorough inspect tomorrow.

Just look it over when you get it. I had a customer that had the same deal but he was using the car as a track project. After looking it over one of the headlight frames was slightly out of square. No welding cutting or anything was done to the car so there was nothing to worry about.
