Carbon fiber driveshafts
I remember on the big list a few years ago that there was a discussion on this. Compared the stock weight (???? lbs.) vs. the CF one (10.8 lbs) and its effect similar to a lighter flywheel. I think Ryan or Wael got one but I can't remember what they thought of it. Anyone remember? Wael, you still out there? I think Ryan sold his FD.

I remember that for the price they paid, their perceived change was not worth it.

this was talked about a lot before. its not worth it. not that much of a wieght savings as opposed to stock, since the driveshaft for the FD is pretty short...about 32 inches.

As far as the CF drive shaft, I'm about out of things to buy for the car, so I'm getting in the territory of diminshing return on my money. CF drive shaft - $900, worth it, probably not, but what else can I buy Any ideas?
I sold the PFS IC to a friend I knew off the list and he's out in your areas. Gene Aubutin, rx7rage when he was on the big list. He took it off my hands for the bargain basement price of $500, a savings for Gene of over 700.

Any reason why you're not going single, or M2 twins?
I am debating on getting the M2 ball bearing ones, as I am worried I won't get my car past any smog with an Apexi RX6.

for the same price of twins, you can go single. you have all the necessary mods already. for the same price as the M2 twins, you can get an XS T04S single. good for 450 RWHP at about 16 PSI w/ good tuning.

The CF driveshaft would absorb some shock in the driveline. As a result, your diff would probably last longer if you were a drag racer.

If I remeber right, the 2 main benifits were it's ability to absorb some of the shock in the driveline ( as max said) and that if you do manage to snap it, it would broom out instead of shattering and possibly sending chunks of metal into the cabin (via the tranny tunnel)

I've had mine installed since summer. It does "feel" smoother. In terms of weight, it feels about the same but one other supposed advantage is rebuildable u-joints, IIRC.
I got it for $700. ACPT will entertain group buys to drop the price from ~$900 down to $745.

so if the main reason you are buying it is for the weight savings and lower rotational mass, then you won't be able to feel it like a lighter flywheel or power pulley. I couldn't really tell about the pulley, but damn, a lighter flywheel makes a BIG difference.
