Carbon fiber

first search - youll find a couple links
authentic cf dash (as in not a stick on) used to be made by a forum member but I dont think hes doing it anymore, there is a guy on ebay who will take your pieces and wrap them in cf which is a little better then the stick ons but more expensive.
I bought the stick - on vinyls and they came out OK but not as good as I would have liked.
corksport, automega, ebay, all have em.

Mark Koch will cost you some big money, but you definitely get what you pay for with him. Excellent work!
All the stick-on overlays have pretty bad fit and don't cover the entire dash.
I've been looking for a good CF dash kit for awhile with no luck. Maybe someone else will drop in with an answer.

Why would Mazdaspeed make a carbon dash kit? Adding carbon overlays on your dash will not make your car faster, and most racers who need a replacement dash will make their own in different dimensions than the stock one.
You can always make your own: it will take a lot of time and effort, but you might be pleased with the results. Try working with fiberglass first. Make some junk parts. There is tons of info online about how to work with fiberglass. If you're resourceful enough to find it, you're probably resourceful enough to do it.

Also try a quick search on Amazon.com ("composites" or "carbon fiber") and you'll find many books on the subject. I know because I have a bunch of them. Please be careful when working with composites as they can be nasty on your body with prolonged exposure and insufficient safety gear. The fumes and airborne particulate matter are of chief concern. The fumes and even the resin itself (generally when wet) are flamable so be careful what you're doing AROUND your work area. A spark could send you to the moon, depending on the situation.
The good thing is that, since the dash trim isn't a stressed part (unless you're pounding your fist on it), you can really mess up the construction process and as long as the outside looks good, you can still use it. You would have to be more careful if you were making, for example, a wing or any other load-bearing part. Also, you can use whatever weave of CF you'd like in whatever orientation you'd like because stress isn't an issue. Be sure to use a UV-resistant resin, unless you want your dash to be yellow in a couple years.
Maybe one of these days I'll start on all the projects I've been planning... good luck on yours!

Daym! (as they say in WV)
Too bad that guy shut down his custom CF business.
Maybe there's a JDM source???
The British are experts with CF. Maybe in Merry Old England we'll find solid CF dash kits..??
