Carbon County Chrome Works

Located in Conneticut phone number 203 874 8833

Has any one done business with them?

I sent some parts to be polished and they are charging me way over the estimate and saying "we can charge you whatever we want it was just and estimate!" then proceeded to hang up the phone.

Does any one here live by this business? Through the process I kept asking the cost and no cost, didn't know and it has taken them now near a month to complete after a "3 to 4" turnaround claim. I think that he is trying to rail road me and may ask an extraordinary price.

Any feedback on how to handle this matter would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Ugg...

WTF...that's an AWFUL answer to give a customer. And hanging up on you? That's BS. They should give you an estimate, and the end result could be just a little more over what they estimated and THAT'S IT.

Sounds like a shoddy business to me...I agree, he's trying to rip you off.

He's gonna milk you as much as he can. It doesn't take THAT much to chrome something.

I'd give the Better Business Bureau a call, and ask them what's the proper stance to take.

G'luck..and I hope you don't get ripped off.

no, no written estimate all verbal over the phone...first time dealing with polishing so i guess the learning curve is at a cost. He gave me the estimate after sending the parts and I went ahead. After hanging up on me I wanted to get a ticket to "see" him asap. I am very confrontive when it comes to these things...right now, I am trying not to let my temper get the best of me and allow me to do something crazy.... It upsets me that most of the transactions I have done with vendors on this forum has involved great complexity.

My car is ready to run waiting on these parts....he also wanted a cashiers check which is no problem but want to use some payment method that would provide me with consumer protection.

I guess dont use these morons and a call to the BBB is definitely in order.

Hmm... This is a tough angle. BBB might be able to help. By chance, do you know if the over priced numbers he gave you are high compared to other places?

Cashier's check?

WTF? Okay..something sounds REALLY fishy now...that doesn't sound like something a reputable business would only accept...

Dude..I'd check those parts over REAL WELL when you get them back. Something doesn't sound right.

I'd be worried, but that's just me.
