Carbing radiator cover plate...or alternative

Does anyone have pics (of 3rd gens only of course) they want to share that have the actual Carbing radiator plates installed? I only see generic photos of the product but does not appear to be the one that would fit FDs. Or...if you guys know of another brand that sells some concept, please share. The idea looks simple to fabricate on one's own but I do not have the resources. ^_^ Thanks in advance. Tam

One was sold not too long ago, a month or 2 to be exact of something similar to this here on the forum. Perhaps search there and get in contact with the new owner and see if he will let u make a template or something.

You would think it would be easy to fab something like this, but with simple tools it is very hard to make something that works and fits, much less looks decent.

and how do you figure you will do the interior cut for the hood release?

Thanks for your input. I still think its simple but not "easy as 1-2-3 steps" = cut, cut, cut, done. Nor does it mean complex like custom VMICs. I was just stating it appears simple with the right tools (or connections) hence in regards to your "how do you figure....cut for the hood release." With the right tools and resources, almost anything can be made.

Anyhow, I like this custom made one better than what the Carbing version appears to look like (I only see generic design, could be for another car?). Unfortunately, it was the only one and no template was provided.Maybe he wil lhave another down the road as he mentions slightly.

The carbing for the FD looks nothing like the picture in the auction.
There was a picture of a red FD with the plate installed but not sure what his SN is.

Definitely, I'm just saying that this is one of those things that might be worth buying. I'm all for making things yourself... I just find it hard to make something intricate out of sheet metal without high dollar cutting tools.

If you figure out a way to do it nicely, let us know. I know I would be interested to hear it.

unless that thing sits flush with your radiator, it does absolutely nothing except add some bling.

Here is a pic with something I had started doing. Doesn't look like much but it actually did help. if I had to do it over again, I would use some acrylic or plastic based material. Easier to cut...

Thanks. Seeing one officially for the FD from Carbing, it doesn't appear to duct much air as the custom one (see my previous post or link below).

On a good note, I just talked to the guy, 7 BOUND, that has the nice custom one. He sold another and last one recently and the company that originally did it for him went down under. He just obtained a template and he's gonna' contact me sometime when he can get another done elsewhere. The 2 good things with this one is that it looks tons better/ckeaner design than Carbing's version and it appears to duct/substain air better.

^That piece looks awesome, I'd definitely be interested in that. I don't have A/C though, so I wouldn't need that cutout...

I'll keep everyone posted when I hear back from him about the availability. Maybe help out anyone looking for one of these beneficial products for cheap.
