Exclamation Car won't start: Need new battery type and size recommendation! Might be orig. battry

Hi everyone. Tried to start my car this morning and I can hear it kinda starting over, but it wouldn't. Figure it is my battery since I haven't started it in 3 weeks and the last time I started it, it turned over really slowly.

Anyways, what kind and size of battery do you guys use or recommend?

Diehard?
Interstate?

By the way, I think this is the original battery, how can you tell....doesn't have a brand....pretty cool....9 years old.

I have an Optima yellow top. Don't know if it will fit in the stock battery hold down assembly, my car didn't have that when I bought it. I just had it sitting in the tray until I had it put in the storage behind the passenger seat.


It is a weeee bit expensive though. It is a beast, it would last a lot longer than 3 weeks unless you had something drawing amperage all the time.

do you recharge your battery??? if not, why not? Car batteries are just like regular batteries, you must maintain them. In any case, I would suggest somethigh with at least 600cca (the higher, the better) as well as being a sealed battery. It does not really matter about the brand seeing as most come with a 2-4 year warrenty.

Car batteries are just like regular batteries, you must maintain them unless your sure that your alternator is putting out the 100 amps they are suppose to and go for 2-4 hour drives, keeping the rpms up past 3k. In any case, I would suggest somethigh with at least 600cca (the higher, the better) as well as being a sealed battery. It does not really matter about the brand seeing as most come with a 2-4 year warrenty.

I have a #51R battery mounted on a stainless steel custom battery tray by Jeff Hoskinson (he's in the forum somewhere). The battery starts like a charm on the coldest days, is lighter than stock, and since it's also about 1/2 the size the M2 intercooler fits perfectly. I very highly recommend this route unless you want to use a smaller still battery mounted in the rear bins.

you should clean off all that battery acid on the + and - , but if your battery is dead i'd say anything but interstate because it creates to much battery acid leaks! i recently had one but my car wouldn't start either so i just went to costco and bought a regular kirkland battery(some generic brand)! IT WORKS PERFECTLY FINE!

Hmmm...everyone seems to recommending Costco Kirkland Batteries...strange....And by the way, it probably is the battery. I think it is the original 94...so it probably does need changing being 9 years old.
