Angry Car wont start!

Hey all. I ran into a major problem yesterday and dont know how to fix it. I parked my car, as it was running ok, went to class for an hour and a half and came back. Now when i turn the key all it does is crank but wont turn over. It has power, oil, and coolant, but just wont kick over. Can anyone help me out with where to start looking? Thanks

Eric

It might be flooded. Easiest thing to try is holding down the gas all the way and cranking the car. This will crank it without any fuel, which should clear up the condensed fuel on the plugs and allow it to start. Just crank it WOT for about 5-10 seconds, then try and start it normally. You can read the exact procedure in the manual. If that still doesn't work, do a search on "engine flooded" or "ATF trick" and do that.

I tried holding the gas, then we checked the plugs and they were wet as hell. I dont know why it would be flooded after class though, thats prolly the problem. Thanks for the reply

Eric, FDs will flood if you look at them wrong....I am serious! One of the most typical floodings happens when you just start it and move from say the driveway to the garage. The next day....bingo!

The flooded rotary motor makes an unusual noise...you will learn it and know immediately when it is flooded.
It is sort of a 'whirrrrr-whirrrrrr-whine-whirrrrr-whirrrrr
noise, sounds completely different than a normal turn-over.

My FC liked to flood, and so does my FD. All I do is hold the pedal to the metal (make sure you do this BEFORE you turn the key on) and crank it for several seconds, let off, turn it over with your foot off the gas completely, repeat as necessary.....usually about 3 to 5 repetitions will get a sort of stutter out of it, and then sometimes you need to baaaaaaaby the gas.....and it will fire up....smoke like hell, run REAL rough....
It is the way of things.......
