Read the faq at the top of the main page.
Car is only gonna be of what you make of it.
The car is old so things will have wear and tear, things will break.
Do your studies and be careful of which FD to buy cause that will determine how reliable it will be in the future.
Its a great car but finicky, i hope you know that.

personally, i don't think you'll be happy making the switch from the Suby to the FD. you'll be sacrificing a lot of performance (unless you buy an FD that's already modded), and they aren't anywhere near as reliable and versatile as the Suby. i'd say keep your Scoob and if you really want an FD, get it as a second car.
as much as i love my FD, i know if it came down to it she'd be given up before the STi.
I know. i love my suby and all that i have done to it biut i have always liked FDs. i wish i could have both but unfortunately i cant. U said that u have both... how do u like ur FD compared to ur scooby?? i have heard alot of bad stuff abnout RX7 as well as awesome stuff. i heard that to make it a daily driver u have to take the a/c unit out. is that true?

However, it is a 12+ year old car so you can't expect conveniences that today's cars bring. It's built like a race car, designed to go fast, get crappy gas mileage, handle great, and wear out parts fast.
brutal honesty is always good.. lol. well i am used to that already so that might not be a problem, however i will be using this car as a daily driver. what would u guys recomend for it to be a good one.
Ps: still deciding between AP1 or FD

you can kinda get an idea for what i've done to the RX7 and dealt with if you read that thread.
when it comes to comparing the two cars, you have to remember that the FD is about a decade older than your Suby. they're both very different and are built for different purposes. if you really want the FD, you'll have to put in a LOT of time and money to keep her running. it's a very demanding car and plenty of things can go wrong with them. if i were in your shoes, i'd take the Suby over the FD.

yes i am loking for a DD. I used to have a 240SX which ended being a 180SX after mnths of hard work. it was RHD, had SR20 (S15 on an S13), 62-1 turbocharger, STI pink injectors, etc etc etc...way to many mods. it got stolen 2 weeks after i moved from FL to Ca. that was my project but since i am still fresh on the CA streets and i dont have an overwelming job and i need to stick with dd/project for a while.
240 had 413 WHP.

Go drive a E46 M3. It may not be 400+rwhp, but for a DD you really can't beat it. If all you want is a car that is cheap to go fast, you'll be better off going the same route as the 240 or something similar with an engine swap or/and a large turbo on it.

Define powerful? That word is subjective to everyone. IMO, a 333hp M3 is more than enough for tooling around town everyday. If you don't need the carrying/truck space, get a C6 Vette. Fast, reliable, and you'll have a warranty.

If you want a weekend/track car, the RX-7 is a great car for that. If you want a DD, get something practical and then later get a weekend/track car.
I have an FD and a Suby as well, though it's a 99 Legecy GT. I can say this; I have the RX 7 store 8 miles down the road from my house(well known shop in the RX7 world). I feel I know my car pretty wel,l having built it with the guildance from them and knowing if I was in a pinch they would get me fixed. That said; I still would not have an FD as a DD. These cars are 12 years old. Getting to all the reliability mods and then the performance mods has taken one solid year and 1000's of hours, as s-thetikz stated before.
On another note; I absolutly love my FD. Everywhere I go I get the reaction of a naked hot chick on the car. And it performs well tool. Yes, I have an ego, don't we all? Uniquiness is a huge thing for me and the FD has it covered without spending $40,000 and then modding the car.
You being in Cali, you don't have to worry about snow. If the FD and S200 are what you are sold on, then S2000 with little down time. Fd, for a full on marrige with some hard times that pays off and will never leave you bored. My .02. Good luck.

If your 180sx got stolen then don't get an M3 IMO. As far as the FD I daily drove mine fine, even though I have 45k orginal miles and very few mods too. Low mileage is the way to go. S2k is a better DD Imo but more expensive none the less.

)the S2000 will be a good choice. plus the convertable top is nice for that sunny Cali weather (well, if you're closer south). just make sure that you have fun with whatever you get. being happy is what's really important.
