car theft
I just pop the hood, pull the cover off of the fusebox next to the positive terminal of the battery, take the EGI fuse out, then put the fusebox cover back on. It takes about 10 seconds to this, but your car won't start without it, and best of all it's free. Just try to make sure no one is looking when you do this.
yea my friend who has a bimmer ///m3 mike is thinking about doing that. I mean the cameras and everything isnt as expensive as you would think them to be. U can get cameras that zoom in and out, nightvision etc.

someone had the right idea earlier... best theft deterent, is actually only one choice... go with a pitbull...
screw clifford, lo jack, python and all the others, just get a pitt...
come on, who's going to be crazy enough to try and mess with your car when you got a pittbull just chillin' in your seat??? granted your interior is probably going to go to crap, but hey, at least your car and her parts will still be intact...

There is a system out that you can track the car and tell it what to do by a handheld remote or over the internet. It's basically LoJack with alot of features and cost alot more. I read about it like a year ago and I think there is a monthly service charge too.
You can tell it to kill the car, flash the highbeams, turn off the lights, flash brake lights, lock doors, pop the trunk (not in our case), etc.

Yet another reason to purchase a Power FC and commander. You can use the rev limiter function to make your 7 immobile----just crank it down to 500 rpms and I guarantee you that sucker isn't moving except via flatbed

AVL companies rely on different technologies to track vehicles (or rather relay info back and forth to vehicle), including utilizing a nation-wide 2 way paging network or using the data signals of cellular carriers. The basic premise is the same though. You install a tracking unit in your car, order the service (typically monthly fee, anywhere from a few dollars to $30+ based on 'plan'), and track your vehicle over the internet via their mapping software.
Some feature things like geo-fence, which notifies you (via email, phone, whatever) when your vehicle steps outside a zone you select, or notifies you when your vehicle goes over a certain speed (teen monitoring I suppose). Others have the ability for you to issue commands, such as starter or ignition kill.
When I was seriously researching the industry a year or two back, there was Pagetrack (Elite Logistics), Securatrak, and a bunch of others. To give you an idea of how shakey the industry is, Pagetrack is now out of business http://www.elitelog.com/ and Securatrak has renamed itself and 'emerged out of stealth mode' according to their site. (fancy way of saying we almost went broke, but managed to pull out asses out somehow?) www.securatrak.com
Meanwhile there are a number of that still offer this service. Here is one:

Search 'AVL' or 'auto vehicle locator' or other similar terms in your favorite search engine for more. Be warned though, the units are pricey, and no gaurentee that the company will remain in business.
Honestly though, an GPS based AVL is theoritcally better then Lojack, as that the GPS AVL services typically rely on you to track your vehicle (and who cares about your vehicle more then you?). Lojack is radio based, and is dependent on Police squad cars being equipped with the locator units. Problem with this they have to know the area to search (detection range is limited), and - depending on your PD - not all squad cars have the locator. Other AVL companies use the GPS system and are dependent on the communication system's coverage area, but as long as the GPS unit can p/u a signal and is within the cellular/paging area, you can track the vehicle anywhere in the country.
My cousin works in a special investigative unit for our city's PD, and he says (granted over a year ago) that no more then 2 squad cars patroling an area are such equipped. If those 2 squad cars are on another call, you're SOL. If you vehicle has left your area (say, left your home in South LA and is cruising out of the city, you're SOL again, as they will be looking in the wrong area. Lojack works well if you discover your vehicle stolen within a sort time frame, but Lojack becomes progressively useless as time passes (unless the thief is stupid enough to hang around your neighborhood).
However, until the industry matures, it's a gamble signing up with one of the AVL companies. The only AVL worth siging up with is Onstar (run by GM) http://onstar.com/us_english/jsp/veh...jsp?page=idont ,but it is only available on select new GM vehicles, along with new Acuras and others. You may recall the deadly bank robbery in the midwest last year, where robbers massacred the bank employees and customers, fled, and stole a Subaru from a house nearby as a getaway vehicle. The Subaru was equipped with Onstar, and at least one of the criminals was captured with it's aid. Not able to retrofit though, so meaningless for RX7s.
Sorry for the lengthy post, but hopefully this helps.
see here's the thing, if people want stuff, even if you pull the egi fuse, put in a fuel cutoff switch, etc, there are still other things that can be taken... Batmobile's fd got broken into, but since they couldn't take the car, they took his pfc, his front mount, his intakes, his stereo, etc.... not to mention fucked up his car by pulling all the gauges and stuff... i guess the best thing to do is to park in a closed garage and keep everything insured, get an appraiser out to give the actual value of your car and have it insured for that amount... it's a pain, it costs a little more, but you're *** is covered better in the long run

If the poodle ***** in my car, I'll off him as well.
best system that will get your car back
Take your time and read about this system it is still in production. no monthly charge, you track the car from your phone. Lojack is a POS compared to this because lo jack only beeps when it is near a radius of miles. This system uses real time GPS with an error margin of about 10 feet

Well, haven't we all raised this thread from the dead...
Problem with having a laser on a Baretta 9mm is that the laser will point in one direction, while the gun will shoot in another. Most inaccurate pistol I've ever fired. That's why they can accomodate 15-round clips-- you need that many in hopes that you'll hit what your aiming at.
However, the toy poodle should shred any potential thief to little bitty pieces, anyway. Vicious little bastards...

Park your car in a well lighted area.
Take the spark plug wires with you.
Install a deadbolt in the door. (Some SAABs came stock like that)
Replace your windows with plexiglass.
Lojack Lojack Lojack.
"Thats not a tool, thats a brick!"
