Unhappy car starts then dies at idle

Hey guys, I've searched and searched and can't find the solution to my idle problem. Here's the problem: I start the car, idle shoots up to 2.5k a sec, then drops back down to 1k (AWS eliminated). Then the car begins to idle hunt for a sec or two and just bogs down and dies. Things I've checked so far, fuel pump, MAP and TPS and they work. I have a walbro wired without the resistor btw, otherwise the car is bone stock. Here's the thing the car will run with the pedal down a bit, I rev the car to about 2k and it runs fine, drop the revs to about 1k its still fine, however when i completely let go of the gas pedal hoping for the 750 idle, it bogs and dies. I'm beginning to think its either a vacuum problem, or ISC problem. Help!! TIA.

Make sure your vacuum line to the FPR is still good.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? I would run the tests for that also.

thanks for the replies guys, I have new plugs and wires in, installed them about a week ago. The car hasn't been running since so I guess its safe to say they have 0 miles on them. I'll definately look into the fpr.

well if its of any use i had £130 plugs in only about 2 weeks maybe 3 at a push till they went **** up .
so dont rule it out till the other guys tell u otherwise.

also my mechanics do at least 5 services a week and we get 1 dead plug out of 100 from new so prolly worth a check.

If you can't keep it running using the gas pedal then my guess is fuel pressure.

Thumbs up

recently got the fuel pressure gauge installed, BINGO. Fuel pressure was @ 11psi... went to check out the pump, turns out when I installed the walbro I forgot to tighten the clamp completely and it came loose. *doh* made sure the connection was tight this time, and the car started right up! thank you all for your help!
