Car stalls with AC . Is this cause of the 9.5 flywheel ?
Car stalls with AC . Is this cause of the 9.5 flywheel ?
I did a search and only thing i found was to replace the clutch switch. But some posted back did this and didn't fix the problem. And i had the recall done also, when it was a automatic though. The mechanic also unplugged my airpump the same day i t was doing this. Could this be a problem? I aslo getted a lumpy idle, then levels out after a few sec. I also notice very light grey smoke at idle when the car is hot. You can't really see it unless you look inside the exhaust, sometimes you can see it coming out,but it barely comes out,and it's hard to see. It burns my eyes also. So these problems might be all related, not sure. Any help would be apperciated! Also the switch under the clutch pedaL,the white prong sticks out about inch and has a strong spring in it!
You may know this already but in case none of us FC guys have said anything, we normally up the idle to 1000rpm after putting in an aluminum flywheel because the stock ECU seems to not be used to quickly falling revs of a light flywheel.
My idle didn't change after the installation of the 9.5lb flywheel. I'm running a Pettit ECU, but it's still non-programmable like the stock ECU.
As far as the idle problems, you might check this thread:

Your mechanic unplugged the air pump? Do you still have the stock ECU and a main cat on the car?

Fixed the idle. I'm now idling around 1000 - 1200. And still when shifting from 2nd to 3rd with the ac,the rpm needle drops to 0 very quickly once you push in the clutch. Is this normal with the flywheels. I'm talking about normal driving. Shifting around 4,000 rpms and under. I did also stall when i rev it to 6500 rpms with the ac on. If the ac is off i have no problems.
Check your dash pot. It may need to be adjusted or replaced.
When you get tired of looking into your exhaust pipe while the car is running, try looking onto the headlights at night from a few inches away.
