Car stalling with A/C?
Tell me about it! lol Actually it was the power steering loss that I noticed first........
Hope I'm not steering you guys wrong, but my car would stall like clockwork with the AC on. It would NEVER continue to run if I pushed the clutch in. Unfortunately I installed the PFC and used it to confirm that the switch was bad, and then replaced the switch too on the same day. Not sure if one or the other actually fixed the problem, but I do guarantee the two together will work!
Still, bottom line is that if you push your clutch in and the switch doesn't pop out at least half an inch, it's broken, so SOME function of the car isn't working correctly!

Good news
I replaced my clutch switch this morning and drove around the city for about an hour running errands before going into the office. It looks like the problem is solved because it didn't stall once.
For comparison's sake I put the old switch next to the new one before I installed it - sure enough the white pin on the old switch was sticking out only about a quarter of an inch while the new one's pin stuck out about half an inch. Anyway I'm really happy that the problem appears solved. Thanks to all for assistance.
The part # again for reference is LA01-66-490A

Great! That'll be the best $20 bucks you've spent when it's 90+ outside and you're creeping in traffic!
This whole thing really perplexed me to start with, but it makes sense after reading this thread. I couldn't understand how a clutch switch could be bad, but the car still wouldn't let me start it with it in gear and the clutch out. Weird that there would be duplicated switches on one pedal!
This might be Archive worthy. About every RX-7 I test drove had this same problem......at the time I thought it meant engine or AC problems, certainly not something as simple and cheap as a switch gone bad!

Well great news
The clutch switch came in today and I replaced it and voila!...no more stalling and the AC runs cooler too
What a pain to get the other switch out though. The bolt seized on, so I ended up breaking the switch off - took a while, but I managed to get it off. My old switch stuck out about 1/2 a CM and the new one is almost an Inch!! Anyhow thanks a lot guys for your help

Installed a new switch today & fixed my problem as well.
Just thought I would post up to let anyone else that has this problem know that my car hasnt stalled once since the new switch went in..
Here is a picture of the bag the new one came in with part #
And the old switch that came out with the white push pin stuck in ..
FYI for anyone replacing this switch, the nut on the switch itself gets loosened.
Then un-plug the switch & spin the switch out of the threaded carrier..
I remember someone saying the nut was rusted & they had to cut it off..
Well the threaded carrier is also 17mm, but it is welded to a bracket, so it will not move, yes mine had surface rust on it as well, but I looked closer & realized that this piece was not designed to be moved. The switch itself is what unscrews from the carrier. & it was a realy quick fix ..

True. But what we were talking about is when you come to a stop with the clutch in & the car still in gear it will stall .
If you pull it into nutral while coming to a stop it wouldnt stall ..
So the clutch switch fixes this problem, primarly ..

Yeah, some people said they had an automatic or whatever, in this case it wouldn't be the clutch switch. If someone turns the A/C on and the ISC isn't working then it will put more load on the car and the idle speed will decrease. The dashpot helps bring the idle down slowly at that last little bit, if it's broken or out of adjustment the idle could fall to quickly and cause it to stall. If both are not working the problem is even worse.
I hate to bump an old thread
the white part of my clutch switch seems to work fine and sticks out fully
it is not stuck in like on Rotech7's post
is it possible the switch could still have gone bad and needs replacing?

Wow. Very happy that potatochobit bumped this thread. I've had this problem for awhile now and haven't been able to figure out the problem.
Ordering the new switch now so hopefully it fixes my issues too.
